Monday morning musings

- Jessica Lange turns 60 today, and is proof that a poor acting choice does not need to derail a career. Lange was cast as Dwan in the 1976 remake of King Kong and the role nearly ended her career before it started. But, another remake, The Postman Only Rings Twice--where she starred alongside Jack Nicholson--got her career reignited and, two Academy Awards and four Golden Globes later, the rest is history. Lange has always avoided the traditional Hollywood scene--she currently lives in New York with playwright and actor, Sam Shepard, her mate of 27 years.

- For those who enjoy watching train wrecks, the Lindsay Lohan-Samantha Ronson public breakup continues this week with Lohan's stint on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. You can catch Lindsay with Ellen this Thursday.

- The Kansas Relays took place this past weekend at the University of Kansas in Lawrence for the 86th year. And, once again in the midst of the running and jumping and putting and throwing and vaulting it...yes, rained. The Relays are infamous for how often it has rained during the competition. Saturday's events all came off even though rain hit in the morning.
