A good friend who is the Chief Marketing Officer of Sports Illustrated partnered with Southwest Airlines to promote the magazine's annual swimsuit edition--the largest and hottest-selling edition each year for the publisher.
Some Southwest passengers are offended at the partnership given the adornment (model Bar Rafaeli) on the side of the plane. But...soft porn!? C'mon...

Have any of these passengers seen an Abercrombie & Fitch outdoor board? (There's one on the way into Manhattan by the Midtown Tunnel, if anyone in Gotham wants to check it out.) Now, that's on the verge of soft porn! :-)

Being a blogger
When I started Musings, Notes & Quotes, a friend and fellow blogger told me "get ready to feed the beast." By that he meant, get ready to figure out how to keep the content fresh and updated.
Most days, this isn't a struggle since the purpose of this blog is to offer up short reflections on the variety of topics listed up above. At the same time, it is a struggle to come up with things that I think readers will find interesting, compelling and intriguing enough to bring them back for more.
So, do me a favor and help me out by dropping me a line. Let me know what content you've sampled here, over the past three weeks, is of highest interest. With your help, we'll keep this little enterprise going.
And, do me a favor--feel free to send a link to this blog along to your friends. Readership will only help keep the content fresh by multiple ideas flowing into the ol' newsroom here in Leawood, KS.

WD-40
Much like duct tape and baking soda, WD-40 is one of those wonderful inventions that can do all manner of stuff.
Here, some good ol' boys find one more use for the spray-on substance:

Victory Junction Gang Camp
If you aren't familiar with the Victory Junction Gang Camp, I'd encourage you to check this out. It is a tremendous program with a new camp soon to come to our local community here in Kansas City. Kudos to the Petty family for all that they do with this effort...and to KBS Constructors for their involvement.

The public train wreck
"I did what I had to do with integrity."
- Jason, The Bachelor
Huh!? What the heck!? Dude, you just told the woman you picked that you wanted to break up...on national television. And, then you turned right around with the woman you didn't originally pick and said, "oops...my bad."
Man up, bud! That's an odd definition of "integrity."

Rush hour in Kansas City
I've heard more than once from my business colleagues who migrated to Kansas City that "rush hour" in our town is an oxymoron. Personally, I think that's a good thing--that spending 45 or more minutes in a car going one way to or from work doesn't sound all that much fun.
AdWeek just published a study on the Kansas City market and their statistics prove out the commuting phenomenon. In their study, 26% of us spend less than 10 minutes in our car going to or from work and 23% spend 10-19 minutes. So, almost half of the 96% who drive (and don't carpool) are in cars for less than 20 minutes--just enough time to down the morning cup of coffee on the way to the office, or to decompress on the way home.
Eat your heart out, big city colleagues.
